“When I came to Clubhouse, it was the first time anyone had ever told me recovery was possible.”

Before joining Fresh Start Clubhouse in Michigan, USA, Taylor felt her mental health diagnosis would define her future. Despite recently earning her master's degree, mental health challenges and growing isolation made the future she envisioned feel out of reach.

When Taylor first walked into her Clubhouse, she was told something no doctor or provider had ever told her: recovery is possible. Those words gave her the hope she had been missing.

"It was a place where you could restart your life ... it gave me that opportunity to get back on the trajectory of a life that I wanted."

With support from her Clubhouse community, Taylor secured a job at a local sewing center, where she recently celebrated two years of employment. Through meaningful work, renewed confidence, and a community behind her, Taylor began to see her future differently.

"Now with Clubhouse behind me, I feel like I have a future again. Like I can see my future unfolding."

What began as a personal recovery journey has grown into a story of leadership and global impact.

Today, Taylor serves on Clubhouse International Faculty, ensuring quality programming and fidelity to the Clubhouse Model. As a Faculty member, Taylor shares her lived experience and knowledge of the Clubhouse approach to recovery to help strengthen Clubhouses around the world. Most recently, she served on the Accreditation team for Casa del Parańa in Argentina.

Taylor isn't just rebuilding her own future. She's helping create opportunities for others.
