Who We Are: Our Mission and Our Work. Our Community Speaks Out About Our Global Impact.
Meet Shakira, Clubhouse member and young adult mental health advocate, who is helping to move our community forward. Collaborating with 330+ Clubhouses and nearly 60 startup groups around the world, we work every day on behalf of members like Shakira. Please donate today to support our work creating recovery opportunities and helping people living with mental illness, like Shakira, reclaim their futures! With your generous support, we can continue this lifesaving work.
Clubhouse International welcomes and supports the launch of the World Health Organization (WHO) Guidance on community mental health services: Promoting person-centered and rights-based approaches. We are pleased that the Clubhouse Model of psychosocial rehabilitation is included in the WHO guidance and technical packages, and that our Training Center, Phoenix Clubhouse in Hong Kong, is identified as an example of community-based mental health services that are following good practices.
As we seek to expand the Clubhouse approach to mental illness recovery and grow our global Clubhouse network, Clubhouse International recently formed a new working group, the Coalitions and Associations Committee. To date, we work with 20 recognized Clubhouse Coalitions around the world to start, grow and sustain Clubhouses. We are already seeing results! The Ohio Department of Mental Health & Addiction Services recently granted awards to start seven new Clubhouses.
Clubhouse International announces the launch of our Corporate Partners program – an opportunity for corporations to participate in our efforts to expand the Clubhouse Model around the world. Our charter Corporate Partners are: Kohlberg Kravits Roberts (New York, NY, USA); H. Lundbeck A/S (Copenhagen, Denmark); Neurocrine Biosciences (San Diego, CA, USA); Sunovion Pharmaceuticals (Marlborough, MA, USA); Alkermes Pharmaceuticals (Waltham, MA, USA); and Karuna Therapeutics (Boston, USA).
There is significant research substantiating the effectiveness of the Clubhouse model and the added benefits of Clubhouse Accreditation.
Clubhouses powerfully demonstrate that people with mental illness can and do lead productive, happy lives. Each Clubhouse we open touches +/- 500 people in need!
Help ensure that people living with mental illness in your area have a place to go and support to find jobs, education, housing and a new lease on life.
Imagine if you had a place to go where you felt accepted, understood, hopeful AND that helped you get a job, go back to school or find a home. That is what Clubhouses offer.
